Calling slightly-wrong names prank

Josh and Jared had a particular game they'd often play at lunch. It was similar to the “tapping” prank: they'd turn around as if they'd meant to call the name of someone sitting nearby, but they'd call out a slightly different name or word instead.

“Batty!” they might call out in Patty's direction. Patty would turn around, thinking they had called her name. Obviously, it was impossible to distinguish the two similar sounds over the noise in the cafeteria.

“I wasn't calling you," they'd explain. “I was calling Batty.” Patty would just stare, blankly. Then, they'd move on and do it to the next person. There was absolutely no point to the game other than for their own sick amusement.  ❒
