THE GOOD BROTHERS

“Flush your urine!”

Growing up, Jared and Audrey would often skip flushing the toilet when they used the bathroom if all they did was pee lightly. It was, supposedly, an eco-conscious move to help save water. For the most part, nobody minded (except Granny). But when they became adults, visiting home again or staying together on vacations, it became annoying to walk into the bathroom and lift the toilet lid up only to see a bowl full of absolute urine. They'd both often yell out in exasperation, “Flush your urine!”

Of course, this yelling always came from inside a bathroom with the door closed, with nobody necessarily within earshot. So they had to simply hope that the other person happened to hear and comprehend what they were saying. In many ways, these incidents were similar to Jared's yelling of “stop not turning the thing!”

Nowadays, they do flush toilets, but it's unknown whether the yelling had anything to do with their changed behavior. And every once in a while when they visit their Miami home, Jared will use the bathroom right after Audrey to find she's returned to her old habits.  ❒
