Sometimes, Granny would share some sort of life truth with Jared and Audrey for the first time.
It could be anything from something they needed to remember, like writing a thank you note, or an explanation of why she made a strange choice, like buying some food item they clearly never liked.
Being curious and inquisitive, Jared would always question and argue the point until Granny was exhausted from talking about it. This would often involve him asking why over and over again.
Frustrated, Granny would try to give him one last thorough answer. She'd start speaking, get worked up, become tangled in thought, and realize that she wasn't making her point. Finally, she'd stop herself and just say, “Who knows!” in a defeated, exasperated tone.
She wasn't angry at Jared, per se. Her irritation was just at the situation in general, akin to throwing up her hands and moving on. ❐
