What if Chxxxxx was calling?

During their Thespians trip to Tampa senior year, Josh and Jared shared a hotel room. As soon as they arrived at the hotel and checked into the room, they started using the phone to make prank calls.

One of these was the infamous leaky pipe call.

Most of the others involved calling different friends' rooms and either making noises or just hanging up immediately. Soon, Josh and Jared started receiving prank calls in return.

At one point, Josh was sitting in the chair by the phone. It rang, and in one fell swoop he picked it up and then immediately slammed it down again. Jared was shocked – even though they were all joking around, he couldn't believe Josh would actually hang up the phone like that without at least checking who was calling.

“What if it was Chxxxxx?” Jared asked, completely seriously. “What if she needed help?”

Josh stared at him incredulously and laughed. In what universe would Chxxxxx need help and choose to call their hotel room, rather than 911 or anyone of authority?

To this day, the story still comes up when the guys are in the throes of prank calling.  ❒
