Sad Air Bud music

The sad Air Bud music was a piece from the orchestral score from the 1997 movie, Air Bud. Taken from a portion of the track “Snively Takes Buddy Away,” it was a melancholy tune that played during a particularly sad moment in the film – when the villain, Snively, an abusive former owner of the titular dog Buddy, comes to take the dog back from our protagonist, Josh. As we see Sively drive off with Buddy, Josh starts to cry, and the music swells.

Jared and Audrey watched the movie a fair amount, but what stuck with them (or at least, Jared) more than anything else was this piece of music. Jared would hum it anytime something sad happened between them in real life, as background music of sorts. He would also hum it as a means of “softening” a harsh insult or action he may have taken against Audrey, to show he didn’t really mean it.

After so many years, Jared still breaks out the sad Air Bud music scene sometimes, but it’s almost completely divorced from its association with the movie.

The relevant portion is at the 1:00 mark in the track below.
