Holding on to the car grab handle

Whenever she was a passenger in a car, Abi would hold on to the grab handle above her door.

It didn't matter if they were barreling down the highway or crawling through a parking lot, Abi would grasp that handle, consistently, on every ride.

But she wasn't nervous as she did so. She didn't seem to be afraid of anyone's driving. On the contrary, she would hold full conversations in the car, completely at ease and relaxed. It was just a habit of hers to hold the handle.

Naturally, Jared noticed this from a young age and would ask her why she always held on to it like that.

“For protection,” she would say, instantly.

In recent years, Memo has also started holding on to the handle, and of course, Jared can't help but point it out.  ❐
